DOM for Windows Ver. 5 and higher offers the option to export DOM data to Palm Handheld Computing Devices running Palm OS ® v.3.5 and higher.  In order to export DOM data to the Palm Device, a PC running DOM must also have the Palm Desktop installed, and the Palm Device be linked to the PC with the proper connection, such as a cradle or direct cable.

The following DOM data is available for export to Palm devices:

Appointment Book by day or week – viewable in the Palm OS Memo Pad section

Referral Source List – viewable in the Palm OS Address Book, also separated by the selected category such as “DOM Refs”

1.  First, generate the export files in DOM as follows:

For Referral Sources – select Reports, Labels, and choose Referral Source-Palm Pilot.  Make the list selections, and use the View button.

For the Appointment Book – select Scheduler, Print Book, and choose Synchronize to Palm Pilot.  Make the report selections, and choose either the View or Print buttons.  Print will of course make a printed copy of the Appointment Book, in addition to creating the Palm export file.

2.  In the Palm Desktop, use HotSync®, Link, to create links to the export files (this step is done once as part of the initial setup):

For the referral sources, which are placed in the Address Book, the file path is typically N:\DOMWIN\DOMDATA\PALMREFS.CSV (use appropriate drive letter).  You may browse for the file if you like using the browse button on the dialog box next to the file path field.  After specifying the file path, specify the category name used to group the information in the address book on the Palm, such as "DOM Refs”.  Make sure the category name you enter is different from any existing categories you’re using in your Palm so that you can view the DOM Referrals separately within the Address Book application.  After choosing Next, the field selector dialog will appear; just click OK here, as DOM puts the fields into the proper order for the Palm.  You will get a dialog box asking you to confirm your link settings.  Choose Done to confirm the setup of the file link.

For the scheduler, which is placed in the Memo Pad, the file path is typically N:\DOMWIN\DOMDATA\PALMSCD.CSV (use appropriate drive letter).  You may browse for the file if you like using the browse button on the dialog box next to the file path field.  After specifying the file path, specify the category name used to group the information in the Memo Pad on the Palm, such as "DOM Appts".  Make sure the category name you enter is different from any existing categories you’re using in your Palm so that you can view the DOM appointments separately within the Memo Pad application.  After choosing Next, the field selector dialog will appear; just click OK here, as DOM puts the fields into the proper order for the Palm.  You will get a dialog box asking you to confirm your link settings.  Choose Done to confirm the setup of the file link.

      3.       To update the Palm device, use the HotSync® option on the Palm device while it is connected to the PC.  Repeat step 1, and then step 3 as needed in order to keep the Palm device as up to date as desired.
