BRS provides a variety of electronic claims ("eclaims") and related services, using several industry partners. Most of our commercial electronic claims are routed through our partner WebMD-emdeon Business Services. Dental claims for virtually all commercial insurance companies, Blue Cross/Blue Shield organizations, and many state Medicaid programs can be submitted electronically through BRS Computing and WebMD-emdeon Business Services. A per-claim fee applies to electronic claim submission.
In addition to electronic claims, BRS also offers Real-Time Eligibility ("RTE"), which enables dental providers to check whether a patient has current insurance benefit coverage, and in many cases, provides detailed information on the available benefits. RTE is generally offered on a subscription basis (additional per-transaction or payer fees may apply).
For more information on eclaims and RTE, contact BRS Sales at 1-866-"YES-4BRS" (866-937-4277), or BRS Support at 1-914-747-4015, x10.

Requirements
- DOM for Windows Practice Management Software
-
- BRS currently offers electronic claims services to clients using the DOM for Windows dental office management software. We recommend electronic claims clients enroll in Software Subscription Service, in order to obtain updates to the DOM program and the electronic claims software.
-
- Computer Modem/Internet Connection
-
- A computer modem, with a speed of at least 14,400bps, supported by Windows and able to dial out, is required for eclaims. A broadband internet connection is required for RTE.
-
- BRS and United Concordia Companies Offer Reduced Cost Claims
-
-
BRS partnered with United Concordia Companies (UCCI), to offer a special program for rebates on UCCI electronic claims submission. Claims submitted for the major lines of business to UCCI, including Pennsylvania Blue Cross/Blue Shield, are eligible for a rebate of $0.30 per claim, resulting in an effective cost of $0.20 per claim. For details, click here. To take advantage of this special program (for all states except Maryland), contact UCCI customer service at 800-633-5430, and specify "BRS" as your claims clearinghouse.
-
- Electronic Claims Enrollment
-
- BRS will provide an agreement to be signed and returned by the client. Once enrolled, an electronic claims username, password, and the BRS modem phone number will be provided. Some insurance companies, primarily Blue Cross/Blue Shield payers, and state Medicaid administrators, require additional registration for electronic claims. BRS (or your authorized BRS representative) and WebMD-emdeon can assist you if necessary. For detailed information on provider registration for eclaims submitted through WebMD-emdeon Business Services, see http://www.emdeon.com/PayerLists/payer_enrollment_forms.php . In order to take advantage of the special pricing and rebate, for all states except Maryland, UCCI claims are handled separately (see above).
-
- Electronic Claims News
-
- BRS provides a special newsletter just for electronic dental submitters, which is automatically transmitted to clients with the electronic claims acceptance report. The Electronic Claims News is updated periodically, and contains items of immediate interest to those submitting dental claims electronically.
-
- Customer Service and Payer List Updates
-
- In the event of a question or problem with an electronic claim, your first contact should be the insurance company. If the insurance company is unable to resolve the problem, contact WebMD-emdeon Business Services (for all claims except UCCI, PA BC/BS, and Tricare). The current customer service number for WebMD Transaction Services is 877-220-7770 (toll free). Please note that UCCI claims (for all states except Maryland) are NOT submitted through WebMD-emdeon Business Services. For questions on UCCI claims (for all states except Maryland), contact UCCI customer service at 800-633-5430. If WebMD-emdeon Business Services or UCCI are unable to resolve your problem, contact your DOM support representative, or BRS Systems Support at 914-747-4015.
-
- BRS Computing provides regular updates to the electronic claims payer list, adding new payers as they become available, and updating existing payer information in the case of insurance company mergers and changes. To view the current eclaims Payer List, select Tools, Payer ID List, in the DOM for Windows Program.
-
- Claim Removal Service
-
- BRS Computing offers a claim removal service, which allows for removal of processed or transferred claims prior to re-transmission by BRS. This provides the ability to remove claims from your transmission file after the claims have been transmitted by modem to BRS, but before re-transmission to WebMD Transaction Services or insurers. If you made a mistake in claims preparation, this gives you one last chance to have the claim removed before it is sent to the insurance company. However, due to the speed with which claims are handled at BRS, you only have a short time to arrange removal. Click here for details on Claim Removal Service.
